2021 - 2022

Arts Officer - Exhibitions and Access

Dumfries and Galloway Council

  • Responsible for the events programme at Kirkcudbright Galleries, mainly for the Galloway Hoard Exhibition.

  • This includes working with colleagues both within and out with my organisation and working within my provided budget to establish a diverse and enjoyable events programme.

  • Other tasks include researching and reaching out to prospective event partners, evaluating those events and producing reports which can be presented to our exhibition partners and funders.

  • I also lead school and group visits to the Galleries, organising and leading craft workshops. I was the facilitator of our Galloway Hoard Lecture Series, hosting Zoom calls with over 400 attendees.

2020 - 2021

MA Heritage and Exhibition Design

Distinction | Edinburgh Napier Unviersity

  • Developed my understanding of core aspects of heritage, exhibition, and museum design.

  • Developed a major project - Contrary Mary at Craigmillar Castle - this included research, design development and an interpretation plan, which I presented to Historic Environment Scotland and academics.

  • Developed several interpretation proposals, including an event at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. This project included planning and producing a temporary event, and a permanent exhibition which focused on permaculture and sustainability.

  • Working on several projects at once with clients thus developing project management skills as well as professional consultation and communication skills

2020

Assistant Interpretive Designer

Fully accredited museum design consultancy who excel in creative museum design and strategic heritage services

  • Supported interpretation designers with exhibition development

  • Creating conceptual interpretations for tender invitations, working these designs up to a suitable standard using 3D design software

  • Responding to client feedback to adapt issues and influence positive changes

  • Presented conceptual and developmental work to English Heritage, the project has since been installed and has received positive reviews

2019 - 2020

Visitor Services Assistant

Royal Collections Trust                

  • Customer service role which involved communicating information to visitors

  • Collections management training and education

  • Assisted with events, updating the way-finding systems and setting them up within the Palace

  • Working in a large, cross-departmental team
